More than 70 years since the ending of World War II, people are still left with scars that even time can’t erase. One generation from now it will be impossible to hear the untold stories of this dark time for human kind, as the last survivor of the Holocaust are well past the age of 80. The growing urgency to preserve those stories has inspired Elly Kleinman, second generation of Holocaust survivor, to open the first museum that will focus less on stories of death, and more on stories of Jewish religious life. The Amud Aish Memorial Museum is an exceptional institution that offers a one of a kind experience. It is the only one of its kind not only in America, but I the entire world.

Throughout history we have witnessed countless examples and illustrations of humans’ capability for violence, cruelty, and hatred. Barbaric crimes of ruthless tyrants, torturing and killing in the pursuit of power and wealth are unfortunately part of every era, which is why Elly Kleinman believes it is important that we learn that as a vital lesson. Without a doubt, the Holocaust is one of the most exhaustively researched, documented, and memorialized crimes of the 20th century. In order to describe the evil so unprecedented that shaped the destiny of millions of Jews, the word “genocide” had to be coined.
